Mysuru: The city unit of BJP has made serious allegations against the local legislator and officialdom in charge of preparing electoral rolls of deleting names of 11,212 men from the electoral rolls during the revision of the same recently.

Accusing MLA Somashekar’s high handedness in the irregularities, former minister and BJP leader A Ramadas said around 11,212 names, mainly of BJP supporters have been intentionally deleted from the electoral rolls.
Narasimha Raja constituency with 5642 deletions tops the list, followed by Krishna Raja constituency 4794 and Chamaraja 3416 respectively, Ramadas alleged.

He alleged that MLA Somashekar behaved like chief minister and in close coordination with the local team of electoral officials carried out deletions in systematic manner.

Nearly 30 officials succeeded in completing deletion of voter names within a span of 3 days with clinical precision and alive voters turned dead while others were shunted out of their homes for the sole purpose of deleting names, Ramadas alleged.

Most applications are filled by few congressmen to prove residents left homes and handwriting in applications is valid proof to justify ‘booth capturing’ strategy of the Congress , Ramadas stated.

When complaints reached the election commission highlighting omission of names in electoral rolls, City Municipal Council (CMC) electoral officer Aslam was transferred after he sought transfer on his own to cover the misdeeds, Ramadas said.

The central election commission is not aware of irregularities committed and there are possibilities of such cases in all the 224 constituencies of the state, Ramadas feared.

Around 52 people under 12 booths have been declared dead in K R constituency limits, alleged Ramadas and demanded a judicial probe to set right the anomalies.

Street vendor Veena, a voter surviving by selling snacks and short eats to eke a living has mailed a copy of the Aadhar and Voter ID along with “Vada” to prove that she is alive to local legislator Somashekar, though declared dead in electoral rolls to prove a point.
