Mysuru: The bones and some other body parts of as many as five cattle that were stolen from a shed were found disposed at Dadadahalli of Mysuru, on Thursday, January 10.

The cows were tied in the cowshed on the night of January 9. However, during wee hours of Thursday, the culprits had untied the cows and dragged them to a field and butchered them. While they fled with the meat, they left behind some bones and waste. Two cows belonged to a local resident named Chikkannamma, one each belonged to Sriram, Ravi and Nagaraju. A calf belonging to Chikkannamma escaped the killers with minor injuries.

Earlier on January 5, a similar incident was reported in the area where the cattle was skinned out. The villagers say that a ‘beef gang’ is active in the region and they fear any confrontation with them.

When they contacted the police, the police reached the spot immediately with the dog squad. A case has been registered at the Kadakol Police Station.

Meanwhile, the villagers have said that never before have they seen such an inhumane act.
