Auto rickshaws fined for overcharging passengers using faulty meters

Mysuru: Around 20 autorickshaws were fined to the tune of Rs 10,000 by the city traffic police for overcharging passengers using faulty meters on February 5.

During the raids conducted jointly by traffic police and officials from legal metrology department, around 20 autos were found using faulty meters.

They were cautioned to replace/rectify defective meters within few days by the traffic police. The raids to check irregularities will go on, said city police commissioner warning them of stringent action in case of repeated violations.
