Mysuru: Janata Dal Secular (Supremo) H D Devegowda is determined to foil the plans of Congress and BJP in the old Mysuru region to strengthen his party’s presence in the region in a bid to enhance it’s tally in the forthcoming assembly elections 2018.

Announcing his decision to lead JDS in Mysuru and Chamarjanagar districts, former prime minister Devegowda exuded confidence of giving both national parties a run for their votes in the polls scheduled for next year.

Rubbishing Chief Minister Siddaramiah’s claims of JDS being irrelevant in state’s political arena, HDD said, “Netas are trying to put us down but the people are with us and JD(S) cannot be finished by opponents. I’ll stay put in Mysuru and lead the campaign”, signalling a clear intent to take on Congress which won 11 of the 15 assembly segments in Mysuru last time.

Addressing the party workers in the temple town Nanjanagud, HDD said, Nanjangud by-elections cannot be considered as the yardstick for future results, and claimed JDS’ absence had helped Congress win the assembly segment.

Talking of national parties sidelining political stalwarts like S M Krishna and Srinivasprasad, Gowda said in JDS, all leaders got due respect and a fair deal.

He also assured of doling out Rs 5000 monthly pension to senior citizens aged 75 years and above, if JDS came to power.
