Mysuru: In the last one and half years, enough research has come in saying that 50 percent of the middle managers in the IT industry are going to become irrelevant in another five years, said Krishnakumar Natarajan, Executive Chairman, Mindtree.
Delivering the 11th annual leadership talk organised by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) at its auditorium here on Tuesday, January 7, he said, “Artificial Intelligence is going to replace the above middle managers. In another five years, they will not have jobs. Many think that technology will lead to loss of jobs which is not correct. Instead we should build a mindset that technology is no more an adversity and should start thinking that we have to live with it. That’s what future is all about and we have to start thinking with them. Apart from this, once the Decoder which has already been established, gets fully functional, entry level programming will completely disappear. But still the brighter side is its not everything or completely automated. There is still need for human judgment. The role of entry level programmer will potentially change into Customer Experience Executive. At an outset we should be ready to work with technology.”
“Individuals who thrive on their own winning are not going to be successful, people contributing to the team are going to be the winners. Apart from this, collaboration is very important to succeed in the present world and that’s going to decide who the winners are”, added Natarajan.
Professor Rajendra, Faculty Operations, SDMIMD, N R Parashuraman, Director, SDM IMD and H Gayathri, Deputy Director, SDMIMD were also present, Students and faculties and industry experts took part in the event.
