Mysuru: Three college students died in a road accident on January 31, after the speeding car they were travelling in, hit the median and toppled near Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) office on the outer ring road at Dattagalli.
Mohammed Farhan, Syed Yasin and Divya died on the spot, while their friends Rehman and Spoorti suffered grievous injuries.
The speeding car hit the median on the road and toppled resulting in three deaths. They were returning from a party jointly hosted by Farhan and Yasin in celebration of their success in BBM examinations.
Rehman at the wheels had expertise in driving sports cars but failed to control the vehicle on the ill-fated day. The three students sitting at the rear were thrown off the vehicle, while Rehman at the wheels and Spoorti sitting beside him in the front, suffered serious injuries. Rehman’s desire to exhibit his driving skills to his friends after a 2-year gap resulted in the accident, said traffic police after inspecting the site of accident.
The two injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Kuvempunagar Traffic Police have registered a case.
