Yakshagana Bhagavaatha Nagara Subrahmanya Achar commits suicide

Mangaluru: Renowned Yakshagana Bhagavatha (playback singer) Nagara Subrahmanya Achar committed suicide at a house in Kulashekara on Tuesday, January 7.

It is learned that Achar, a resident of the Hosanagar taluk, was visiting a friend at his residence when he took the extreme step. He committed suicide by consuming poison. Even though he was immediately rushed to a hospital, doctors declared that he was brought dead.

Achar was a lead playback singer with the Mandarthi Shri Durgaparameshwari Yakshagana troupe for the past several years. He had gained much name and fame in recent years through his stellar performance. The reason for his taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

A case has been registered at the Mangaluru East police station in this regard.
