Mangaluru: Karnire Vishwanath Shetty has donated 1 acre of land at Karnire in order to provide houses for the financially poor. The Federation of World Bunts' Associations has been planning to construct houses and hand it over to the poor within eight months.
Federation Chairman Aikala Harish Shetty told reporters at Amruthotsava building in Bunts Hostel on Friday, November 9 that a total of 18 applications had been received from the poor people and houses would be built within eight months. Each housing site has around 4 cents and the houses will be built with proper facilities at the same place. The intention of the federation is to provide houses for those who are unable to build them on their own", he said.
Informing about the social service by the federation, Harish Shetty said, "The federation has already helped around 39 families, who are facing financial problems. It also aided over 1000 students through its scholarships and extended monitory benefits to 10 women during their wedding ceremonies. A total of 30 families who have suffered from various diseases have also received financial help from the federation. In order to provide financial aid to the flood victims, the federation has released around Rs 2 Lakh to the DC's Fund. In total, a total of Rs 1 Crore has been spent on construction of houses, education, health of the poor people in the last six months", he added.
Meanwhile, the federation members disbursed certificates to the beneficiaries who have received financial help, on the same occasion.
Federation Secretary Vijaya Prasad Alva, Treasurer Kolladi Balakrishna Rai, Joint Secretary Jayakar Shetty Indrali among others were present.
