Mangaluru: Prime suspect of the Mangaluru International Airport bomb scare case, Aditya Rao’s father and brother were interrogated by the police, who wanted to know his whereabouts on Wednesday, January 22.

Later, speaking to the media, Akshath Rao, brother of the suspect, said, “My brother and I have not been in contact for a very long time. He has been away from his family for about two years. Even during our school days, after the eight grade, we were sent to boarding school. From there on, we only met during family functions. We did not know that he was capable of committing such an act. Our family is in shock after listening to the news. We have not been aware of his whereabouts for a long time and we are not responsible for anything that he does or if anything happens to him. Our family is not interested in knowing what he did, does or will be doing.”

“He was in the Chikkaballapur jail in connection with some other case in 2018. That year, in the month of February, my mother passed away. We informed him about the same a week later, as we did not want any complications at that time. Being the elder son, it was his duty to perform the last rites, but we did not want to force him as he was already under the legal scanner.  My father had tried to correct him several times and later had lost all hopes. He began developing hatred towards my elder brother as he did not listen to any advice. After we came to know that he was involved in threat calls earlier, my father maintained a distance from him and told him not to come to our house,” he added.

He further said, “Aditya is an MBA and BE graduate. My father and I are not in touch with him. We are basically from Manipal. Aditya and I are the only children to our parents. My father was a bank employee, as am I. We moved to Dakshina Kannada just six months ago. Whatever dreams I had for my brother’s life have now been shattered. I’m not sure if he has done such a thing out of emotional motivation. I have co-operated with the police in such a way that it felt like I had forgotten that he is my brother. I cannot believe he has gone to such an extent.”
