Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner S Sasikanth Senthil disclosed a plan of setting up two important waterfront corridor schemes in Mangaluru here on Monday, May 13.
He was addressing the mediapersons during an interaction programme on ‘Tourism Development in Dakshina Kannada District’ at Thannirbavi Tree Park on Monday, May 13. Senthil said that the stretches between Kuloor-Bengre and Nethravathi Bridge-Tile factory Bunder have been identified for the waterfront corridor schemes. As there are some relaxations on Coastal Regulating Zone (CRZ) guidelines, the areas of river banks and beaches can be properly utilised now, he informed.
Meanwhile, Senthil also said that both Sasihithlu and Bengre beaches would be developed as surfing destinations. A proper plan has been designed to materialise these projects, he added.
Senthil opined that tourism development should not depend only on the government. More scope should be given to the investors in order to boost tourism development in DK district, he added.
