Mangaluru: Vice-President of India M Venkaiah Naidu will be visiting Mangaluru and attending the 17th convocation and diamond jubilee celebration of the National Institute of Technology (NITK) Suratkal on November 2.
As per the schedule, Naidu will arrive at the Mangalore International Airport (MIA) at around 10.30 AM on November 2 and attend convocation and diamond jubilee celebration a little later. Hw will then leave for Mysuru in a special flight at around 3.10 PM.
Ahead of the Vice-President’s visit, Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh convened a preliminary meeting at her office and asked the officials to take all precautions to ensure that there are no hiccups during the visit. She also asked the officials of both the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to repair the roads between the airport and NITK, as he is likely to travel by the same stretch.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Roopa, Deputy Commissioner of Police Arunamshu Giri, NITK Director Umamaheshwar Rao, registrar Ravindranath, Airport director V V Rao and others were present.
