Mangaluru: Scores of people visited the Panambur Beach today, March 24, to enjoy the ‘voter awareness sand art’ created by artist Prasad.

As the Election Commission of India is keen on achieving cent per cent voter turnout this election season, all District Election Officers have been instructed to intensify voter awareness campaigns. Hence, the district committee of SVEEP (Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation) has come up with many programmes, including sand art, to inspire the people to exercise their right to vote.

Prasad sculpted an image of the map of India in sand, on which he displayed the message that people should vote for a better India. The sand sculpture also informs one to not sell their vote for money.

SVEEP committee president and ZP CEO Selvamani asked the public not forget to vote on April 18, claiming that it is a constitutional right and that it should be exercised in order to build a better India.
