Mangaluru: The vibrant paintings, colourful flower pots, crowns of Yakshagana artists, candles, bags and other attractive handicrafts drew visitors to Kadri Park, on Saturday, March 9.

Surprisingly, all such attractive articles are prepared by the special children of Saanidhya Residential School of Shakthinagar. These products are exhibited under the title of ‘Vision – 2019’ at Kadri Park.

Renowned Paediatrician Dr. Bharath Raj inaugurated the exhibition and lauded the efforts of Saanidhya. After inaugurating the exhibition he said, “one should achieve something in life before he leaves this world. It is an insult to life if a person leaves this world without achieving anything. Despite their disadvantage, the special children of Saanidhya have proved their talent by preparing such attractive articles. People should extend their helping hand towards special children in order to make them bloom,” he said.

Former mayor Mahabala Marla presiding over the programme informed that instead of questioning what society has given us, one should think what we have given to the society. “Saanidhya has been rendering selfless service since 16 years, which is a great contribution to society. Everyone should support the work of Saanidhya”, he said.

Administrator of Saanidhya Dr. Vasanth Kumar Shetty said that special children do not need sympathy from anybody. They need support from the public. The articles, prepared by them itself indicate that they are capable of doing anything if supported, ” he said.

The cultural programmes of special children ‘Saanidhya Utsav’ will be held on Sunday, March 10, wherein Yakshgagana programme ‘Seethapaharana, Jatayu Moksha will be staged under the direction of Sharath Kumar Kadri. Special children will stage a drama ‘Onake Obavva’, under the direction of Dr Vasanth Kumar Shetty.

Ancita Neesha D’Souza compered the programme and Saanidhya principal Meenakshi M K proposed the vote of thanks.
