Vijaya Bank’s founder directors’ portraits would be restored: Officials clarifies

Mangaluru: Though the portraits of founder directors’ were removed from the Vijaya Bank regional office ( Now Bank of Baroda) on LHH Road, it is now confirmed that all the photos would be restored at the same place.

Newskarnataka.com had carried an article under the headline of ‘Vijaya Bank directors’ portraits removed, nothing left to recall history now’, two days ago. The article also informed that though the portraits have been removed it will be stored safely at Vijaya Bank’s museum on M G Road in Bengaluru. Responding to the article, the officials of Bank Baroda in Mangaluru Zone informed that all portraits would be restored.

M J Nagaraja, General Manager, Bank of Baroda, Mangaluru Zone speaking to newskarnataka.com clarified that the portraits of directors were removed temporarily and it will be restored. “As all the documents pertaining to Vijaya Bank, including the portraits of directors will be kept at the museum in Bengaluru, the original photos of directors here were removed. Once the photo print copies of original photos are done, it will be kept at the museum of Bengaluru and original photos would be restored at the same place”, he clarified.

It may be recalled that Vijaya Bank, the pride of Dakshina Kannada district and Dena Bank were merged with the Bank of Baroda on March 31, 2019. Though the people of Dakshina Kannada district, cutting across the party lines staged protests against the merger, the union government went ahead with the merger plan.
