Mangaluru: Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal have demanded strict enforcement of the anti-cow slaughter law.
Addressing reporters here on Friday, July 9, Prof M B Puranik, VHP regional working president said, “The anti-cow slaughter law attracts 3 to 7 years in jail and a fine up to Rs 5 lac. If a cow, that is less than 13 years of age, has been slaughtered the police are required to detain the accused and if the latter is found guilty place him under arrest.”
District administration should create awareness of the law so that cattle are protected. Even during Bakrid, animal sacrifice is banned by the Animal Welfare Board of India,” he added.
District president VHP, Gopal Kuthar, district convenor, Puneeth Attavar, Pradeep Pumpwell, and Guruprasad Ullal were present.
