Varsity College to start School of ‘Finance & Analytics’: Moily

Mangaluru: To mark the 150th year of University college at Hampankatta, the 150th year celebration committee led by former union minister M Veerappa Moily revealed that the University College will be starting a Post graduation course on School of ‘Finance & Analytics’ with world class scholars arriving as guest lectures at the college.

The college will be completing 150 years in November 2018 and a number of developmental programmes and activities to mark the landmark year have been planned for the entire year.

Construction of a hall and classrooms on first floor of Dr Dayanand Pai building and work at the heritage building of Ravindra Kala Bhavan will is slated for completion by February 2018. Upgrade and digitization of U R Ranganathan library is too on cards, said Moily.

A souveneir ‘Coffee table book’ containing few old records and pictures of the institution will be released on the occasion. Also Selected articles of old students, lecturers will be published in a separate book. A guest house will be constructed in the college premises for resourcepersons. A proposal has been sent to NABARD, ICICI, HDFC and CRF to set up start up incubation centres within the college premises, informed Veerappa Moily.
Mangaluru University Chancellor Professor Byrappa and others were present.

The college building received heritage tag several years ago. The red laterite structure served lavish spectacle in popular Kannada film ‘Ondu Motte ya Kathe’.
