Mangaluru: MLA and former minister U T Khader has written a letter to Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa asking him not to take hasty decisions while transferring administrative officials. He stated, in his letter, that such hasty transfers would have a negative impact upon the Dakshina Kannada district.

Speaking to the reporters here on Saturday, August 3, Khader said that as soon as Yediyurappa came to power, he transferred many top police officials in the absence of the home minister. Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil has been transferred even though the new Compol has not yet taken charge. Yediyurappa should think about the safety of the people while transferring the officials, instead of thinking of his personal benefit, he said.

Meanwhile, Khader has also written to Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, asking him to install CCTV cameras at the bridges and to raise the railings of all bridges along the highway to prevent more loss of life. Pointing out to the death of Siddhartha, the founder-chairman of Cafe Coffee Day who allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the Ullal bridge built across the Netravathi river in Jeppinamogaru, Khader said, “The bridges here have turned into suicide points. Railings of the bridge should be raised and CCTV cameras should be installed. The railings should also be high enough to prevent people from dumping trash and garbage into the river,” he said.
