Mangaluru: Karnataka Urban Development and Housing Minister UT Khader has come under severe attack from the BJP for allegedly earmarking a sum of Rs 15 cr for development of slaughterhouse.
BJP MP from Karnataka’s Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency Shobha Karandlaje has said that the minister has diverted Rs 15 crore to Kudroli’s slaughterhouse, which was actually released by the government for the Mangaluru smart city project.
Karandlaje had mentioned in a statement on twitter that Rs 15 crores that was released by the government for the Mangaluru smart city project had been diverted towards a slaughterhouse in Kudroli, which is notorious for slaughtering stolen cattle.
This policy of minority appeasement by harming the sentiments of Hindus is dangerous for democracy, expressed Karandlaje.
Clarifying on the accusations made on him, Khader said that, one of the important aspect of a smart city is good hygiene of the city which will result in good health conditions of the citizens of this city.
About 80 percent population of the city eats meat, I made a suggestion that funds should be allocated for a slaughterhouse because the waste of the slaughterhouse should be disposed off scientifically so that the hygiene is maintained.
The decisions with regard to the smart city are taken by the 15-member board of the special purpose vehicle (SPV). I can only make suggestions, he added.
He further said that this slaughterhouse is an official one which was auctioned to and ran by the Bajrang Dal for one full year when the BJP was in power at the corporation.
This controversial suggestion made by U T Khader has led towards lot discussion in the city. On the other hand, there are questions being raised on why that money granted to build Goshale is not yet released by the government.
