UTK assures Rs 8 Crore for the new building at Fisheries College

Mangaluru: State Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader assured of striving hard to allocate Rs 8 Crore for the construction of new building to mark the golden jubilee celebration of the Fisheries College in Mangaluru.
 
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating three-day inter-collegiate literature, cultural and fine arts competition `Golden Jubilee Fishko Fest` at the Fisheries College auditorium in Ekkruru on Monday, October 22. He said that he would speak with the MLAs and Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department in order to allocate a total of Rs 8 Crore for the construction of the new building.  
Speaking about the need of undertaking major development works, Khader said, “Development works should be undertaken considering the 50 years growth of the country. Hence importance should be given to the advanced system of boat construction, fish market among others”, he said. 
Presiding over the programme, Fisheries College Dean Dr. H Shivanand informed that the fisheries college of Mangaluru had achieved success in producing both national and international species of fish in a scientific method. Meanwhile, it has achieved success in fish processing, comprehensive fish farming, producing different fish products, value-added products of fish, measures in controlling the fish diseases among others”, he said.
Student Coordinator Koushik A H, college staff advisers Manoj Kumar, Dr. Suresh T among others were present.
