Mangaluru: MLA U T Khader, on Thursday, March 26, asked the State Government to reconsider its decision to keep supermarkets open around the clock, citing that it violates the lockdown direction of the Central Government.

Speaking to reporters here, Khader said that if the supermarkets are open around the clock, it is meaningless to restrict the common people from working. “If the supermarkets are kept open 24×7, then social distancing is definitely not possible. Hence, the government should reconsider its decision to keep supermarkets open around the clock,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, he urged the government to take appropriate measures to control the price hike on essential commodities. “Initially, the price of masks and sanitizers increased exponentially. Now, essential commodities’ prices have also increased. The Government should take immediate measures to control this,” he added.
