Mangaluru: Sleuths of Karnataka Forest Department booked a man under the Indian Forest Act 1927 for possessing four pairs of antlers.

Acting on the information received from the airport staff that a US-bound man traveling with his daughter were carrying deer antlers in their baggage, the forest department officials rushed to the spot. During the course of enquiry, it was learnt that the passengers were taking the antlers from their ancestral residence at Karkala to their US home for decoration purpose. They argued that the antlers were very old and had been in the possession of the family since several years.
Officials later allowed them to go ahead with their travel after the father-daughter duo provided them with all the details sought by them.

Later, a team headed by the ACF visited Hirgana in Karakala and found that antlers used in their ancestral residence were indeed too old.
