Undertrial dies in jail after brief illness

Mangaluru: A 24-year-old undertrial died in the district jail following a brief illness on Tuesday, August 20.

The deceased has been identified as H M Raju, a resident of Belthangady. According to the police, there was an arrest warrant against Raju as he was absconding in connection with a particular case.

He was arrested by the police and remanded to judicial custody on Monday, August 19. After having breakfast on Tuesday at the district jail, he collapsed and was rushed to Wenlock Hospital. However, the doctors declared him brought dead.

A case has been registered at the Barke police station in this regard.
