Mangaluru: UAE-based Beary’s Cultural Forum(BCF) held scholarship distribution, sewing machine and wheelchair distribution ceremony at Loyola Hall, St Aloysius PU College, Kodialbail here on August 13.
Over 500 economically backward pre-university college to post graduation students received scholarship, 20 wheelchairs were distributed to physically challenged and 50 sewing machines were given away to women in Dakshina Kannada district by the esteemed guests like B R Shetty, B A Moideen, U T Khader, J R Lobo and other dignitories.
Mangaluru MLA J R Lobo in his inaugural speech said, “the members of BCF in gulf countries toil day and night and help the students in need back home in their native. Many people have wealth but very few have a good heart to share it with the needy. The members of BCF come forward to help the economically backward because they have undergone lots of difficulties in their own lives. Many students discontinue studies due to poverty, for them the BCF has come as a blessing. We need to support today’s youth if we want our country to be developed.”
Calling upon the students to be responsible, Lobo said that the scholarship will be successful only if the students utilise it for their good. “Excellence has to be achieved by the students. There are lots of opportunities. We are now way forward in technology and education since Independence. You should become competant. You too should help the needy when you reach good position,” he added.
Renowned entrepreneur and chairman, NMC Group B R Shetty in his keynote address, lauding B K Yusuf for his contribution to society said that they expect nothing in return. “Their main intention is to help the poor. Many villages do not have toilets, many poor girls are unable to get marry and several students who come from humble background are deprived of eduction due to poverty. So the BCF and its members help all those needy and their work is commendable,” said Shetty.
He also lauded Karnataka government and J R Lobo for supporting his mission to open hospital in Udupi so that the poorest of the poor can get best treatment.
B K Yusuf president of BCF addressing the gathering said, “As Mahatma Gandhi said Best way to find yourself is to loose yourself in the service of others.’ I am elated that I could help those who are in need and I will continue to do so with the like-minded people. You should also continue to help the poor when you reach good position.”
He also thanked MPs, MLAs, patrons and donors for their support for good cause.
On the occasion several achievers in different fields were felicitated. B A Moideen was awarded Lifetime achievement award, BR Shetty was awarded Global Achiever award, Thumbay Moideen was awarded Global Man of the Year award, B K Yusuf received Global Personality award. Abdul Lateef Mulky, J R Lobo, Mohammed Haneef, Rehmath Ali and other members were felicitated on the occasion.
Minister U T Khader and MLA Moideen Bava also lauded the service of BCF.
