Mangaluru: Sparsha M D’Souza and Chethana from Dakshina Kannada, have been selected as civil judges after clearing the recently held competitive examination for recruitment as judges by the High Court.
It is indeed a matter of pride for Dakshina Kannada that they are two among the 31 candidates selected by the high court as suitable in the order of merit, prepared on the basis of marks secured in the competitive written examination held during November 2020 and viva-voce during February 2021.
Sparsha who is Mangaluru based, has graduated in BSc (PCM) from St Agnes College, after which she studied law from SDM Law College. She has been practicing as a junior advocate presently under Vivekananda Paniyala and has also worked under A Dinesh Bhandary, Mangaluru, for five years.
It is a great honour for me, says Sparsha. “I have a great passion for law and I am really looking forward to working as a Civil Judge,” she expressed.
She is the daughter of Jacintha D’Souza and late Donald D’Souza, from Pandeshwar, belonging to Rosario Cathedral Parish, diocese of Mangaluru.
Chethana also had studied in SDM College from where she received her degree in Law. She began her legal career in the office of advocate, Keshav P Belal, Belthangady, after which she worked for three years as the law clerk research assistant for Karnataka high court judge, Justice B A Patil. For the past one year, she has been working as a junior advocate of the high court, in the office of advocate, Shivaprasad Shantanagoudar.
She is the second of four children of Ramanna Poojary and Seetha couple from Narya village near Dharmasthala. She studied from first to sixth standard at government Kannada school, Perne, and then completed seventh standard at the government school, Kanyady. She pursued secondary education at Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara secondary school, Dharmasthala, before getting PU education at government first grade college, Beltangady.
The names of the candidates who have been selected as Civil Judges were announced through a notification issued by the High Court of Karnataka on February 25.
