Mangaluru: Mangaluru city police have arrested two persons for assaulting a traffic police and obstructing him from performing his duty at the Nanthoor junction on Thursday, October 24.
The arrested have been identified as Irfan (31) from Sampya and Abdul Azeez (52) of Krishnapur. According to sources in the police department, while traffic police Yathish was managing the traffic at the Nanthoor circle on Thursday evening, he saw that a car bearing the registration number KA 19 MK 2529 was obstructing the vehicular movement. Immediately, he asked the driver to stop his car and when the latter refused to do so he clicked a photograph of the car. This irked both Irfan and Abdul Azeez, who hurled abuses at the constable and assaulted him.
A video of this incident was recorded by the police constable and a passer-by and has gone viral on social media.
A case has been registered at the Mangaluru East Police station in this regard.
