Two more succumb to COVID-19 in DK, 183 test positive

dk covid 08072020Mangaluru: As many as 183 people tested positive for COVID-19 and two persons succumbed to the infection in Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, July 8. This takes the district’s tally to 1542 and death toll to 28 (including four from other districts), as per the district bulletin.

Meanwhile, 12 persons were discharged from the hospital after making a full recovery.

According to reports, the deceased are a 57-year-old woman from Ullal and a 32-year-old woman from Puttur. The 57-year-old woman died on Tuesday night and was also suffering from hypertension, diabetes and a heart ailment. The 32-year-old woman, who had recently given birth, was suffering from kidney failure and diabetes. She was on a ventilator and died on Wednesday.

Additionally, a man from Bhatkal (aged 60 years), also died in the district after contracting COVID-19. He was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and was being treated at a private hospital in the district.

As of July 8, there are 819 active cases in the district, 695 recoveries, and two non-COVID caused deaths. There are a total of three people being treated in the ICU ward of the Wenlock Hospital.
