Mangaluru: Two Covid-19 patients of the Dakshina Kannada district have posed a major challenge to the district administration they continue to stay positive for the disease even after six tests.

A 76-year-old man, who had travelled to Dubai with his wife to meet his daughter, tested positive for COVID-19 upon his return to Mangaluru on May 12. His wife, who tested negative for the disease, was allowed to return home after the prescribed quarantine period. Even though he has been requesting the district administration to allow him to return, this cannot be done till his throat swab tests results come back negative.

An 81-year-old man, who also returned from Dubai along with his wife and daughter, is the other person who has tested positive for COVID-19 six times so far. His wife and daughter tested negative for the disease.

Even though these elderly individuals seem healthy, their throat swabs results are coming back positive for the disease every time.

District Health Officer Dr Ramachandra Bayari informed that both individuals are healthy. He added that even though there are plans to allow the two to undergo home quarantine, it is not possible.
