Tulu film ‘Girgit’ released, receives ‘thumbs-up’ from audience

Mangaluru: the much-awaited Tulu film ‘Girgit’, made under the banner of R S Cinemas, was released at Big Cinemas on Friday, August 23.

Renowned Tulu film director and actor Devadas Kapikad inaugurated the premiere by lighting the lamp. Speaking about the film, he predicted that it would become a milestone in the Tulu film industry.

Appreciating the efforts of director Roopesh Shetty, who also played the lead role in the film, Kapikad said, “The continuous efforts of Roopesh Shetty has helped make this a quality film. As this movie has already received a positive response from the public, it is sure to become a huge success.”

With a promising teaser and amusing dialogues, this film generated a lot of buzz amongst the general public, who have been curiously waiting for the film’s release. After the film was screened, many members of the audience opined that it was a quality comedy film.

Roopesh Shetty and Shilpa Shetty play the lead roles in the movie, while comedy artists like Bojraj Vamanjoor, Naveen D Padil, Aravind Bolar and Umesh Mijar play pivotal roles.

Apart from having directed the film and played one of the leads, Roopesh Shetty, along with Keerthan Bhandary, has written the story and the script for the film. Joel Rebello and Darrel Mascarenhas have scored the music, while Roger Loren has done the foley and sound design work. Prasanna Shetty Bailur has written the dialogues.

Besides coastal Karnataka, the film is also being released in 14 theaters across the UAE, Oman and Qatar, and will be screened till August 28. This makes “Girgit” the first Tulu film to be released in coastal Karnataka and the Gulf countries simultaneously.

The star cast, other film celebrities, renowned directors, producers and the members of the media were present for the premiere of the movie.
