Mangaluru: In order to prevent untoward incidents on the occasion of Tipu Jayanti, the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner has decided to clamp prohibitory order from November 9, 6 PM till November 11 midnight.
As per the direction of state government, the DK district administration has also planned to hold Tipu Jayanti programme at the Nethravathi Auditorium in the Zilla Panchayat building on Saturday, November 10. Opposing the programme, the Hindu outfits and members of BJP have organised a protest in the city on Friday following which Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has clamped prohibitory orders, under CrPC Section 144.
During the order, holding procession, protests, public meeting, assembly of more than five members will be prohibited. However, the order is not applicable against holding wedding ceremonies, birthday celebration or any private programme.
Police Commissioner T R Suresh told Newskarnataka that security had been beefed up to prevent any untoward incidents. Two additional KSRP platoons also will be deployed inorder to ensure peace during the Tipu Jayanti celebration, he added.
