Mangaluru: A day after the Congress party announced first list of 218 candidates for the 224-member Karnataka assembly on Sunday night, venting their anger against Congress leader Veerappa Moily several supporters of Uday Shetty Muniyalu protested demanding for the party ticket for the upcoming assembly elections from Karkala constituency.
The Congress has announced ticket to Gopal Bhandary from the Karkala constituency.
Several supporters of Uday Shetty Muniyalu thronged at Kukkundur Circle, near Taluk office and shouted slogans against Congress veteran leader Veerappa Moily, alleging that Moily was responsible for denying ticket to Uday Shetty Muniyalu.
Several protesters also threatened that if the ticket is denied to Uday Shetty Muniyalu, they will not work for the Congress during the election campaigning.
Addressing his supporters, Uday Shetty Muniyalu said that he has come forward to contest in the elections because of his supporters.
“As the party workers pressurized me to contest for the elections, I was an aspirant for the ticket. I don’t have any greed to become an MLA” he said.
He also said that he will be ready to work for the Congress, if it chooses a winning candidate from Karkala constituency.
“There should be a representative from Karkala from in Siddaramaiah’s government post elections,” he said.
