Mangaluru: TIARA 2019, the two-day annual national-level technical fest organized by St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, Mangaluru, was inaugurated on March 13, at the Kalam Auditorium of the college.
Jagadish Shekhar Naik, Co-Founder and CEO of DOI Foundation, Bengaluru, graced the occasion as chief guest.
Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal of SJEC welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. The tech fest was inaugurated by a series of electric contraptions designed and installed by the students that remotely lit the lamp and set the TIARA Logo showing up on display panel.
Jagadish Shekhar Naik, in his address complimented the students for developing the innovative inaugural contraptions and having a Robot handing over the bouquet. He went on to ask the gathering few questions related to job criteria and types of jobs. He urged the students to have a focused approach towards the jobs that they are aspiring for and stressed on the fact that one should look for opportunities to grow in their field of work. The Chief Guest called upon the students to inculcate skills of entrepreneurship by constantly innovating and embracing change.
Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director of SJEC, presided over the programme and in his presidential address highlighted the fact that college promotes events like TIARAwhich acts as a platform for students to showcase their talents. He mentioned about Mother Teresa, a great person who lead a humane life and inspired people all over the globe. He wished that engineering of today follows the same for better development of the society.
Rev. Fr Rohith D’Costa, Assistant Director of SJEC, along with the Conveners of the Fest, Mr Prashant Kurdekar and Ms Preetha D’Souza, were present on the dais.
The two-day fest will witness the participation of students from across the region in a series of technical events displaying their technical skills and competencies.
