Mangaluru: Tiara-2016, a two-day National level Technical fest hosted by St Joseph’s engineering college (SJEC) was inaugurated today, February 24 at the Kalam Auditorium in the college.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Chief Guest of the programme Tata consultancy Services Karnataka regional academic relationship Manager, Sreenivasa Ramanujan who inaugurated the fest with the unique unveiling of the screens which had the words Tiara-2016 shining bright in LED lights.

In a motivational address, Mr Ramanujan spoke to the students about the success, failure and expectations. He informed them about how the industry works on expectations and how one should cope with them and live up to them.

Stressing on the issue of failure that students often refuse to cope with, he said that failures a common on the road to success and rather important as well. “We must take the failure in the positive spirit. We should make sure failures turn into lessons for our future and try our best to learn from them”, he said in this regard.

He also spoke about the importance of cultivating leadership and management qualities along with technical skills to ensure a successful career and told the students intently listening to his advice, to not wish for speedy success. “Fast success doesn’t last long. You should do your duty in the best way you can and definitely, over a period of time, success you deserve will come to you”, he assured. He concluded his address by wishing everyone success in their endeavours.

He was then felicitated by the dignitaries on the dais.

This was followed by the presidential address by SJEC Director Rev Fr Joseph J Lobo who with his witty anecdotes and calm tone explained to the students as to the reason they are where they are and their purpose in life.

Speaking with regard to the purpose of conducting such a fest he said, “ Confidence is one of the most important factors wherever you go. If you aren’t confident no one give you importance. Developing this confidence is also not an easy task. This tech fest, Tiara-2016, is an opportunity for all the students to develop and enrich yourselves. Use this opportunity and learn from it. The confidence you gain from here will drive you towards success in life. I wish good luck to all the participants. Have a great Tiara”, he said.
