Mangaluru: Three persons from one family in the Kasba village of the Bantwal taluk tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, May 9 morning.
With this, the total number of cases in the Dakshina Kannada has increased to 31.
Of the three persons who tested positive for COVID-19 today, two are women (one is aged 60 and the other is 70 years old) and one is a 30-year-old man. They are relatives, as well as neighbours, of one of the women who succumbed to Covid-19.
According to sources from the district administration, a 69-year-old person who was infected with COVID-19 on May 1, was a neighbour of one of the women who succumbed to the disease.
After the 69-year-old tested positive, eight members of her family were quarantined and their throat swabs were sent for testing. Three of the samples came back positive for COVID-19 today.
The source of the infection has been traced back to the First Neuro Hospital in Padil. This means that so far, 16 novel coronavirus cases have been linked to this hospital.
Of the 31 COVID-19 cases in the Dakshina Kannada district, 13 have been discharged from the Covid Wenlock Hospital after making a full recovery and three are deaths. The remaining are receiving treatment at the Covid Wenlock Hospital.
