Mangaluru: Cutting across all party and religion, thousands of protestors took part in a silent candlelight march – ‘Justice for baby Nirbhaya’ and demanded justice for the four year old LKG student, who was allegedly sexually assaulted by school van driver in Thokkottu recently.
Flagging off the march at Nehru Maidan, Srinivasan Nandagopal of Centre for Integrated Learning said that the march is against the perverted minds. “There is need to build an educated society. It’s the first time; a child is reported of rape in Manglauru. Let the march enlighten people”, he said.
With lit candles in the hands, thousands of citizens took out a march from Nehru Maidan to the deputy commissioner’s office here on Saturday, silently protesting against the sexual assault.
Renni D’Souza, State convenor of Campaign against Child Labour sought strict action against the guilty and withdrawal of school license.
Citizens Forum for Mangalore Development coordinator Vidya Dinker, Centre for Integrated Learning director Sachita Nandagopal and members of several organisations took part in the march.
