Mangaluru: The students of SDM Law College condemned the incident of recent gang rape on a woman at Thota Bengre and staged a dharna in front of the college, on Friday.
The protesters shouted out slogans and urged police to take immediate measures to avert such shameful incidents in future. Meanwhile, the members lauded the police for nabbing some of the accused soon after the incident.
The protesters said there is a threat to freedom of women. “Their constitutional rights too are being denied and repeated instances of moral policing is doing more harm to the society. Hence, police should take all necessary measures to check such incidents in future,” the protesters urged.
Protesters listed out some of the demands like nabbing all the accused involved in the Thota Bengre case, protection in Thota Bengre area, controlling drug menace and installing CCTV camera in strategic points.
