Mangaluru: The Pandeshwar Police along with Mangaluru South Anti Rowdy Squad on Sunday have arrested three people in connection with looting a police constable in the city.
The arrested accused are identified as Yathiraj(22) alias Yathi, a resident of Chikamagaluru, Mohammed Ashraf(23) alias Ajju, Mohammed Ashraf alias Nizam resident of Ajjilamogaru Bantwal.
It may be recalled that three months ago while Shrinivas, a head constable of City Armed Reserve Police was walking inside the Nehru Maidan, he was waylaid by the Yathish, Mohammed Ashraf, and Mohammed Nizam. The accused after threatening Shrinivas had looted cash and mobile phone from him. After looting Shrinivas all the three accused had fled the spot. In connection to the incident, a case was registered in the Pandeshwar police station.
In police inquiry, it is gathered that accused Yathiraj along with his associate Shankaralinge Gowda was a notorious thief who involved various chain snatching and two-wheeler thefts in Bengaluru and outskirts of Bengaluru district.
