Mangaluru: The St. Aloysius Institutions and St. Aloysius College Alumni Association (SACAA) conferred the "Eminent Aloysian Alumini Awards-2018" on five personalities at the Fr. L F Rasquinha Hall, LCRI Block of St. Aloysius College on March 25, Sunday.
P Jayaram Bhat, Non Executive Chairmanof Karnataka Bank, Dr. V Ravichandran, CEO of DIYA Systems and Glow Touch Technologies, Dr. K V Rao Director of Regional Science Centre Pilikula Nisarga Dhama, Joseph Gonsalves Chief Traffic Warden of Mangaluru City and Jeevan Saldanha former president of Canara Chambers of Commerce received the award.
The selection of awardees was done by a panel of five juries working independently as per the criteria given by the organisation committee.
After receiving the award, in his conclave address P Jayaram Bhat reciting a Sanskrit quote said, "the knowledge gives humanity or discipline, with humanity comes worthiness, from worthiness one gets wealth and from the wealth one does good deed and that gives a joy".
"The St. Aloysius College is a matter of pride for all Mangaloreans. St. Aloysius College has a dedicated history of 130 years. Thousands of students who pursued their education in the Aloysius College have rendered outstanding service not only to the nation, but also across the globe. These people are true ambassadors St. Aloysius College. He also said that despite the St. Aloysius college has the status of minority institution has never failed in imparting high quality education to all sections of society, without bias based color, caste or creed. The motto of college has inspired the students to become compassionate and empathetic to light the joy into the lives of others.
Fr. Dionysius Vaz, SJ Rector of St. Aloysius Institutions presided during the occasion. Convener of the programme and President of SACAA Archibald Menezes welcomed and Patron of SACAA, Fr. Praveen Martis, Principal of St. Aloysius College thanked gatherings.
