Mangaluru: A state-level team of experts is likely to visit the garbage site at Pachanady and Mandara on September 19 and submit a report.
Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh informed the media that the team will arrive on September 19 and following their study, submit a technical report listing the solutions to what can be done at the site and the rehabilitation process. The district administration and Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will take the necessary measures based on the suggestions in the report.
It can be noted that the recent heavy rains had caused landslides at the Pachanady dumping yard, resulting in the displacement of several families, who are now suffering due to the large amounts of garbage flowing towards their homes and plantations. It can also be noted that former chief minister Siddaramaiah had visited the area a few days ago and urged the state government to implement immediate relief measures to help the residents.
