State govt released Rs 25 crores for road work in Kateel: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel

kateelmp innerMangaluru: The state government has sanctioned Rs 25 crores for the road widening work in Kateel, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on Wednesday, January 22.

MP Nalin, who is also the president of the Brahmakalashotsava Samithi, said that the long-pending demand of widening the road in front of the Kateel Durgaparameshwari Temple has been taken up. “The widening of the road from Moorukaveri to Permude has been taken up at a cost of Rs 10 crores. The road behind the temple connecting Arasolupadavu-Devaragudde-Nellitheertha has also been taken up at a cost of Rs 5 crores. The road in front of the Kateel temple will be developed as a full-fledged ‘Car Street’. The widening of the Ullanje-Kinnigoli Road has been taken up at a cost of Rs 5 crore,” he informed.

The Saraswathi Sadana, located adjacent to the Kateel temple, has been demolished to widen the road. A total of 11 shops located next to the temple have been cleared. The private building owner near the temple has also agreed to vacate after the Brahmakalashotsava and the structure will be demolished later. The Sanjeevani Trust from Mumbai has come forward to construct toilets for the devotees visiting the temple at a cost of Rs 1 crore. Pure drinking water facility will be also be arranged. As the temple has less land, many have come forward to donate their land. A few of the donors have come forward to purchase land from private individuals and hand it over to the temple as well, Nalin added.

Food will be served from morning till midnight at the dining hall during the Brahmakalashotsava. The temporary dining hall can serve 15,000 people at a time. A modern hygienic kitchen has been set up to cook and serve food to the devotees during the Brahmakalashotsava. Here, food can be prepared for 25,000 people in one hour, the MP said.

Informing about the Brahmakalashotsava programme, MP Nalin said that around 20 lakh devotees are expected to visit the temple during the 13-day Brahmakalashotsava celebrations.
