Mangaluru: Despite corona scare, the state government has been preparing for the SSLC examination and it will be held between June 25 and July 4. In Dakshina Kannada district, a total of 30,835 students will be writing SSLC exams this year.
There are 95 exam centres in Dakshina Kannada district, wherein a total of 30,835 students will appear for exams. Meanwhile, 19 additional exam centres have been set up as per the direction of government. In each exam centres, only 20 students will be allowed to write exams. If any student is found with the symptoms of COVID-19, they will be allowed to write exams in a separate room. Measures will also be taken to sanitize all exam centres in the district prior to conducting of exams.
Dakshina Kannada district has procured 65,000 masks, which will be disbursed to all students while writing exams. The distribution of exam hall tickets has been started from Monday, June 15 and measures were already taken to distribute masks to the students, while they collect their hall tickets.
345 students from Kasargod district
Among the total number of 30,835 students, who write SSLC exam in DK district, 345 students are from Kasargod district. Among them, a total of 121 students write their exams in Mangaluru South zone, 25 students write the exam in Mangaluru North zone. The remaining 199 students will write exams in other taluk centres.
There are eight routes to connect Kasargod with Dakshina Kannada district. The department of education has already arranged bus services in all eight routes to ferry students from Kasargod district to Dakshina Kannada district to appear for exams. To ensure that all Kasargod based students write exams, the education department has already deployed nodal officers and they are in touch with all Kasargod based students.
Those students who come from Kasargod district via Talapady gate are asked to be ready at Talapady check-post at around 8.45 am during the exam days. Bus services will be ferrying them to the designated exam centres. However, they will be allowed to write exams only after thermal screening and wearing mask, informed Block Education Officer (Mangaluru South) Prashanth Kumar KS.
