Mangaluru/Udupi: The twin Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts may have innumerable hoardings welcoming AICC President Rahul Gandhi, but there seems to be an air of tension in Udupi district, specifically signalling that all is not well within the Congress house.
Gandhi scion is visiting parts of coastal and Malnad districts on March 20 and if party insiders are to be believed then Udupi district in-charge minister Pramodh Madhwaraj is likely to cause some serious worries to the Congress.
If rumours are to be believed then it is said that Madhwaraj has spoken to state leaders about his reluctance to host the party leader.
The reason that people attribute to this is Madhwaraj’s stern decision to join the BJP, a topic that the Minister has time and again refuted to come out clear on.
Well, sources say it is not just Madhwaraj seeming evidently unhappy with the Congress. Byndoor Congress MLA Gopal Poojary too seems to be rowing the same boat. He too had made it clear to state leaders that he will not be hosting Gandhi in Byndoor and Kundapura.
The theory of the dissent in Congress just around Rahul Gandhi’s visit seems to be well explained because Gandhi will be visiting small pockets like Yermal and Kaup in Udupi district, skipping temple town of Udupi!
While Poojary said that Gandhi’s visit has been sharply formulated keeping in mind paucity of time, Madhwaraj not available to comment on the same.
The news of Pramodh Madhwaraj joining the BJP has been making rounds over the last few years, but neither the Congress, nor the BJP nor Pramodh Madhwaraj have spoken about the same.
