Mangaluru: Rotary Club of Mangalore Sunrise (Club # 31296) in Rotary International District 3181 (formerly 3180), chartered on 12th February 1996, has been doing several community service projects for the last 25 years. The Department of Posts released a Special Cover to mark the Silver Jubilee of the Rotary Club of Mangalore Sunrise on 12th February 2021 at the Head Post Office, Pandeshwar.
The special cover was released by Shriharsha N, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Mangaluru Division in the presence of Rtn M Ranganath Bhat, District Governor, RI District 3181. It has been designed by Rtn Dr Nagesh KR and Rtn Dr Animesh Jain. The cover has been generously sponsored by Rtn Dr Ravish Thunga and Rtn Dr Hansraj Alva of Vinaya Hospital and Research Centre, and Rtn Joseph D’Silva, Proprietor of Bon Masala, all members of the club.
The special cover depicts the activities and the service projects of the club and has a silver jubilee logo. There is a special cancellation sachet which will be affixed on these covers making it a collector’s item. The cover is priced at Rs 20 including stamp and cancellation charges and a limited quantity is available from Philatelic Bureau or with Dr Animesh Jain (Cell- 98450 32334) This cover becomes more significant because this is the first time Department of Post is releasing a special cover on any Rotary Club in Mangaluru. Subraya Pai, Senior Postmaster, Pandeshwar post office and Rtn Dr Shivaprasad, Asst Governor, Zone 2, RI Dist 3181 were present on the stage for the release.
