gandhi compMangaluru: The Mahatma Gandhi Peace Foundation organised a special lecture on Mahatma Gandhi as part of his 150th birth anniversary celebrations at St Aloysius College, Mangaluru. Former Regional Transport Officer and author Dr M Keshava Dharani delivered a lecture on Gandhi and his principles.

Dharani said that the last viceroy of British India Lord Mountbatten had remarked that seeing Gandhi was like having seen Jesus Christ.

In his inaugural address, Mahatma Gandhi Foundation Secretary Dr Ismael N said that Gandhi’s principles were slowly becoming irrelevant to today’s world as propaganda against him is growing. “The foundation seeks to inform the young generation and make them aware of the real Gandhi,” he added.

Addressing the gathering, St Aloysius College Principal Fr Praveen Martis said, “The life of Gandhi was one of struggle to search for the truth. He practised what he preached. Therefore, his life itself is a message.”

St Aloysius Kannada Sangha President Dr Dinesh Nayak welcomed the gathering. Lakshita Rai compered the programme and Shamita delivered the vote of thanks.

Gandhi Peace Foundation Vice-President Prabhaker Sriyan, Kannada Department head Dr Saraswathi Kumari, Gandhi Peace Foundation office bearers, Kannada Sangha secretaries, professors and students were present at the event.
