Spearhead Group Director Canute J Pinto appointed to K’taka Konkani Sahitya Academy

Media professional and Director of Spearhead Media Group, Canute J Pinto (Canute Kelarai) has been appointed by the Government of Karnataka as a member of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy for a term of two years.

Pinto is also the Business Development Officer of the Spearhead Group, which owns and publishes popular media brands NewsKarnataka.com, NewsKannada.com, Karnataka Today Magazine, NK Plus E-Magazine, and its vibrant social media pages.

Earlier, while serving in the Gulf, Canute was the Secretary for three terms and an active member of Konkani Cultural Organisation, Abu Dhabi. An energetic Rotarian too, he was the Editor of Rotary District’s special magazine ‘Hosa Chiguru’.

With excellent HR and networking skills, Canute has built an excellent rapport with Konkani writers, organizations, and its supporters.

Canute loves the Konkani Language and its culture!

Canute has served the Konkani language and culture in many ways over the years. He was the editor of Konkani monthly magazine ‘Amcho Yuvak’ for two years and as a sub-editor of ‘Dirvem’ Konkani weekly. He also briefly worked in the marketing team of ‘Mithr’ Konkani weekly.

An accomplished author, he has contributed to various Konkani magazines and is equally well-versed in writing in English as well as Kannada.

His love for Konkani literature pushed him to start his own publishing house ‘Evershine Publications’, which has published three famous Konkani books – Fr Denis Castelino’s ‘Pallam ani Mullam’, ‘Devi Ninkasi’ by acclaimed poet and Central Sahitya Akademi Award recipient Melvyn Rodrigues which has received the Vimala V Pai Vishwa Konkani Poetry award, and ‘Pinturam’ written by the recipient of the Kittel Puroskar, Melwin Kolalgiri.

With immense love for Konkani theatre, Pinto has acted and directed several Konkani plays in Mangaluru and abroad. He has compered about 200 Konkani events.

Hailing from Kelari, near Mangaluru city, he completed his early education in NMPT and then at Govinda Dasa College Surathkal, KPT and St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru.

The Spearhead Family congratulates Canute J. Pinto on his appointment as a Member of the Konkani Sahitya Academy.
