Deepak Justin, a Corporate Trainer who has trained over 1,00,000 individuals, is a Motivational Speaker who has delivered over 1000 motivational talks. He is a 3 times TedX Speaker. He is also an ISTD training Diploma all India topper. He has delivered motivational talks and Keynote Addresses to 25 countries during the pandemic. In addition, he is an avid Toastmaster with many laurels to his name
The South Zone Chapter Chairs – Shri S J Amalan, Bangalore, Shri R Vijaykumar, Chennai, Dr. Madhav Bhaskar Rao, Hyderabad, Dr. KA Zakkariya, Kochi, Shri S Sendhil Kumar, Mysore, Shri S Suresh, Sahupuram, Dr. E Mohammed Shereef, Thiruvananthapuram and Shri O Ram Mohan Rao, Vishakhapatnam – hosted the program.
The host team of 9 chapters was led by Dr. Sambashiva Rao the Regional Vice President of ISTD. The ISTD Mangalore Udupi chapter, chaired by Mrs. Nivedita Mirajkar, moderated the session.
The National Vice President of ISTD Kurien Daniel inaugurating the program said that members of all chapters should participate in the National and Regional Webinars which are great opportunities for learning and honing training skills. He encouraged all members to spread the word about the exclusive offer of life membership at 50% up to March 31.
Deepak Justin, the keynote speaker, recalled his journey into training. He said he landed up as a Trainer / Motivational Speaker as a result of 3 Mistakes he made (in hindsight) – Studying Physics, taking up an Advertising job, and pursuing and acing an MBA. Each of us, he said make our own mistakes he said, and when we realize them, we move on. We realize they are mistakes when we find ourselves stuck in a rut, doing what we don’t enjoy doing – that’s when we feel frustrated. He went on to say that we make those decisions easily. But decision making is different from doing, Justin said and follows the law of diminishing intent.
As regards the key question as to how be a rockstar trainer, Justin offered the following advice:
- Don’t go after customers, create followers.
- Practice hard, follow the 10,000-hour rule that pilots follow and
- Betray the age in which you are in… Question the black spots to set them right!
He said the biggest problem trainers face these days is attention management. He said a trainer must also be a motivational speaker in tandem. It’s the way to hold an audience’s attention.
