Mangaluru: Dakshina Kanada district unit of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) has released the students’ manifesto for Lok Sabha election – 2019 and urged different political parties to include it in their election manifesto.

SIO state secretary Yaseen Kodibengre, after releasing the manifesto at Patrika Bhavan on Friday, March 22, said that student community and youth are facing numerous problems across the country. Neither the government nor the educational institutions are trying to solve these issues. Hence the SIO of India has decided to release students’ election manifesto so that political parties take up these issues and respond to these problems.

This manifesto discusses the major issues related to the students and youth in education, employment, social justice, human rights and environment. It includes demands and recommendations for a suitable growth in respective fields in the state of Karnataka”, he informed.

The SIO also stressed the need of focussing on education. Yaseen informed that expenditure on education needs to be increased from 3 per cent to 8 per cent of GDP. Right To Education Act should be extended from the age of birth to age 18 to ensure all children get early childhood education and sustainable development of children. He demanded the political parties to include their demands in their election manifesto.

SIO district president Umaira Banu, district president Rizwan Azhari, campus secretary Safwan Sathar and research scholar Santhosh were present.
