Mangaluru: The proceeding begins on the Shyam Prasad Shetty death case, wherein the trio namely RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, Ramachandrapura Matt seer Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji and Puttur Havyak association President Bonanthaya Shivshankar Bhat, have been accused of provocation for the suicide of Shyam Prasad.

Bhat received the summons from the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) following Raghaveshwara seer and Shivshankar Bhat had already received one.

However, the hearing of the case on Raghaveshwara seer and Shivshankar Bhat will be held on October 31.

In the suicide that took place in the year 2014, the trio was booked under IPC Section 306 (Abetment of suicide) and IPC Section 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation).

Shyam Prasad Shetty is said to be the brother-in-law of a female singer (name not mentioned), who had accused Raghaveshwar seer of sexual abuse.

The seer in turn had complained that the couple was blackmailing him based on which the Honnavar Police had arrested the husband and wife.

In connection with this case, the trio had allegedly given life threats to Shastry over the phone and also provoked him to commit suicide. Based on the threat calls and provocation, Shastry’s wife Lakshmi had filed a complaint.

The case was investigated based on the phone conversation recordings which Shastry had done. This was one of the crucial evidences. The case was later handed over to the CID by the Puttur Town police.
