Shreemathi Shetty murder case: Couple who borrowed money from her land in police net

Mangaluru: The police has cracked the sensational Shreemathi Shetty murder case and nabbed a couple in connection to the murder case.

Jonas Samson and his wife Victoria Mathias, residents of Valencia have been nabbed by the police.

A skull of a woman was found stashed in a gunny bag at Kadri on Sunday. Soon the identity of the murdered woman was ascertained and the victim was identified as Shreemathi Shetty.

Addressing a news conference, Mangaluru police Commissioner Sandeep Patil said that with the arrest, the mystery behind the coldblooded murder has been solved. It is said that Jonas had borrowed Rs one lakh from Shetty and had repaid Rs 40,000. Shetty had requested Jonas to pay back the balance as well and on May 11, she came to Jonas’ residence to collect the balance. At this juncture, the couple assaulted her and hacked her to death.

He said that with no clue at hand, the police had to work out a various methodology to lay hands on the accused. The police recovered a two-wheeler used by the victim and some of her valuables as well. It is said that accused Jonas also tried to end life by jumping into well when police tracked him. He was nabbed successfully.

The Commissioner of police said that 30 policemen who worked on the case will be rewarded suitably.
