Mangaluru: The Narayana Guru Yuva Vedike presented ‘Brahmashri’ gold medal to a student Shravya K of St Lawrence English Medium School, Bondel for her academic performance, at Town Hall, on Sunday.
Shravya was chosen for the award as she scored 619 marks in the SSLC examination. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel after presenting the gold medal appreciated the efforts of Narayanana Guru Yuva Vedike for identifying the students who excelled in education and for providing scholarship to them. ” Brahmashri Narayana Guru had enlightened people through his preaching and thoughts. He had strived hard to uplift the downtrodden people and helped to pursue education. Now, the Vedike is following the footsteps of Narayana Guru by extending its helps towards school and college children”, he added.
Former minister Krishna J Palemar informed that he would give free education at his Vikas College for those who secure Brahmashri gold medal.
Yuva Vedike president Lohith Kumar Pajeer presided over the programme. Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, Mangaluru University Vice Chancellor Prof P S Yadapadithaya, MLC Hareesh Kumar, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, gold medal sponsor Ratheendranath H, entrepreneur Shailendra Suvarna among others were present.
