Mangalore: After the initial suspicion that the internal rift between Shiroor Seer and his Ashtamath colleagues led to his mysterious death, a video of Shiroor Swamiji taking part in a ‘Bhootha Kola’ and pouring out his predicament has gone viral. The video brings to the fore an angle that was not considered previously.
It is believed that Shiroor Math is the richest of the eight mathas designated to serve Sri Krishna Temple. In the video, the Swamiji is seen participating in a ‘Nema’ at Shiroor Moola Math (main math) and having a conversation with the impersonators of the Daivas, stating that two Mumbai-based businessmen have cheated him of a romping Rs 26 crore. It is believed that the seer has had business links with several individuals and many were due to pay him huge amounts.
Sources close to the seer also spoke of a mysterious care-taker who entered into the life of the seer only a few months ago but, made her way to having undisputed say in his day-to-day life. Sources claim that the lady, who hailed from Puttur, had gone missing after the seer’s health deteriorated.
With several discomforting angles emerging, the death of the ‘people’s seer’, as he is referred to because of his approachable nature, continues to be mired in controversy.
Wine and Women
Meanwhile, supporting the second claim, none other than Pejawar seer himself has made some discomforting statements post the Shiroor seer’s death. Vishveshatheertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math told Bangalore Mirror that if the seer was poisoned, he may have been poisoned by people from his own math as nobody from the other mathas can offer him food.
“Many of us have not maintained any contact with him, but we were told that he used to consume alcohol. Many of his students have complained that he would stink of alcohol. This is not how a seer should live. This extreme addiction could have taken a toll on his health,” said the senior most seer of the Ashtamath adding that sources also revealed about his closeness and liking for women and how he had a huge fight with a lady recently.
